Be The Change Symposium

Through dynamic group interactions, leading edge information, and inspiring multimedia, participants of this half-day event are inspired to reconnect with their deep concern for our world, and are empowered to make a difference.

Designed with the collaboration of some of the finest scientific, indigenous and activist minds in the world, the Symposium explores the current state of our planet from a new perspective, and connects participants with a powerful global movement to reclaim our future.

It is an exploration of four questions

• Where Are We? – an examination of the state of environmental, social and personal well-being
• How did We Get Here? – tracing the root causes that lead to our current imbalance
• What’s Possible for the Future? – discovering new ways of relating with each other, with the Earth and looking at the emerging Movement for change
• Where Do We Go from Here? – considering the stand we want to be in the world and our personal and collective impact.

If you are ready to be disturbed, inspired and moved to action, and to be introduced to a thriving community of committed cohorts, then join us in exploring the most critical concerns of our times, and discover new opportunities to make a real difference in accelerating the emergence of an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, and socially just human presence on this planet!

BTCI Training & Workshops

The overall purpose of our Training & Workshop offerings is to support and empower you in expressing your commitment to the purpose of the Symposium: “To bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, and socially just human presence on the planet”, in your diverse possible contributions to this work.

Our training programme is currently under active review - watch this space for exciting new offerings, both directly related to the Symposium and much wider in scope, bringing together and integrating other skills and bodies of work - from Joanna Macy's "The Work That Reconnects" to Non-Violent Communication (NVC), to event organisational, audio-visual and presentation skills.

Community

Community is the core of Be the Change. We have a growing community of ‘global citizens that are awake, who are engaged in the conversation of “what’s it going to take to create a new future?”’ (Bill Twist, The Pachamama Alliance, 2008).

The importance of community in promoting the changes needed in society cannot be over emphasised. By working in community we move to a collaborative approach based on an understanding of interdependence. As we know from the study of social change movements this can have exponential impact. Moving from the personal to the communal gets the ball rolling.

The rapidly growing Be the Change community promotes a positive experience of community and the skills to engage with it. We actively support our community with regular contact, events, working groups and involvement in contributing to the constantly evolving BTC services and activities.

Be The Change Initiative is both part of the Be The Change coalition of organisations in the UK and Europe, and the global Awakening The Dreamer Initiative initiated and led by The Pachamama Alliance. We are entirely independent and not affiliated with any religious, political or ideologically-driven organisation.

Be The Change Initiative is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee registered in England & Wales company no 07087431. Contributions are very welcome, though not currently tax-exempt. Directors: Jon Ralls and Diane Sharp.
